Q: What does REDINGOTE mean?
A: A redingote was a long coat or greatcoat worn in the 18th century, derived from a French alteration of the English "riding coat". We reinvented the redingote with today's technical advancements and modern sensibilities for the 21st century equestrian.
Q: How warm is it?
A: We designed the insulation level to layer perfectly over the riding outfit you would wear in the current temperature. For freezing or slightly above freezing temperatures, you may just need a long sleeve and a pair of breeches or jeans. For below freezing temperatures, you may add a base layer and a top layer, such as a sweatshirt or vest.
Q: Can I ride in the winter jumpsuit?
A: Absolutely! While the jumpsuit is especially ideal for before, after and in between rides, it’s perfectly appropriate for a cold weather trail ride or hack.
Q: Can I use it for other activities?
A: Yes! We may have focused on horse riding for some of the suit’s features, but it’s also perfect for skiing, sailing, hiking, dog-walking – you name it!
Q: How do I care for my jumpsuit?
A: We recommend hand washing or washing on your machine’s delicate cycle, then line drying. Blanket wash is an excellent detergent option as it helps preserve the waterproofing.
Q: How long does the waterproofing last?
A: Our shell fabric meets the industry 80/20 standard for waterproof outerwear and all seams are fully taped. You will see a 20% reduction in exterior DWR (waterproof treatment) after 20 rain events (a day of rain or a wash). DWR can be easily replenished by a third-party supplier such as Granger’s as needed.
Q: Is there a warranty on it?
A: We guarantee your satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with our product when you receive it, or if it does not perform to your satisfaction, you may return it for a replacement or refund.
